Initial ideas for the motion titles project My first, and i expect, final idea for the motion
project is to create the titles for the fictional film, The Raven -based
on the poem by edgar allen poe. .. .

Ideas for graphical style I want to create something that looks real yet in an abstract way for the raven poem, what i will be doing is making all the props for the titles in real life (made paper, card, clothe etc) and scanning them in as to create texturised surfaces, and another level of non true realism. here i have an example of something simular from the opening credits of the lemony snicket motion picture… |

Another influence….. Tim Burton is another influence for the style of this project, i want to keep the feel of it dark yet slightly comidic and cutish at the same time, heres another example of what i mean….. First the nightmare before christmas and then big fish..... |

Initial scans These are my first completed scans ready for import to after effects…….. I started off finding some images on google then printing them out, i then traced the images on to various coloured card using grease proof paper and cut them out, penciled on the detail and scanned them in to photoshop where i built the individual walls and colour corrected them. i did it this way as i wanted to portray a real world effect, with textures, rough edges etc….

Title design This is my first render of my initial film company logo animation….pretty dang happy with it, now just got to sinc it with the music….. |
Lighting test After scanning in the outside of my house and my trees, i set up the scene in after affects using 3d layers and did a few light tests, heres one of them (its not right but i think it looks kinda cool)…… |
First complete scene…. This is going to be the first half of my title sequence, the lead up to ” the raven” house. i’m quite happy with it except the last fade to white, as i am unsure how i’m going to transition this into the inside scene….hmm, anyhew, have a look…. |
Motion graphics completion Finally completed the motion graphics project after 90 bastard hours of rendering, i really dont think macs are cut out for these massive rendering tasks, maybe a pc is in order, even if i just use it for things like this. the outcome of my project went quite well i belive, a main thing that pissed me off was the music (a bit lame, but never mind), also i would have liked the fire to turn out a little better as the movement seemed to look awkward no matter how much tinkering i did to it! i was really pleased with the lighting in the room however, it took me a long time to get all 5 lights just right but i belive the effort was worth it. |
